A midseason trade for Sauce Gardner propelled the Colts to be the betting favorites to win the AFC as late as Week 13. Then everything fell apart.
They dropped each of their final seven games and lost quarterback Daniel Jones to a torn right Achilles tendon in Week 14. Philip Rivers was coaxed out of retirement as an emergency replacement, but that did not help, as the Colts missed the playoffs.

2026 outlook: Repeat of early '25 success seems unlikely It's tough to expect anything close to a repeat performance from Jones in 2026, even before we consider the effect of the Achilles injury. It's also worth noting that the Colts endured another offensive line departure ( Braden Smith ) and saw a key offensive weapon ( Michael Pittman Jr .) leave the building to boot.
Veteran defenders Nick Scott and Zaire Franklin both departed this offseason, leaving Day 2 rookies A.J. Haulcy and CJ Allen in line to fill their big shoes.
The sheer number of departures, along with uncertain health for Jones, makes them a tough horse to back in 2026. -- Ben Solak Best bet: Jonathan Taylor under 1249.5 rushing yards (-110) Taylor's huge start to the season slowed tremendously once Jones got hurt.
Taylor has back-to-back seasons with at least 1,400 yards, but that's also back-to-back seasons of over 300 carries. With the Colts' continued shuffling along the offensive line and a defense that likely won't get many stops, I'm worried about Taylor reaching this volume.
